There is a teaser screenshot of version OpenOffice 3.0 running on OS/2. However, the current plan is to skip 3.0 and release OpenOffice version 3.1 in March of next year.
Peter Weilbacher has released (12/18/2008) unofficial builds of Seamonkey 1.1.14, Firefox 2.0.0.19, and Thunderbird 2.0.0.19 that add high memory support, MNG/JNG support, SVG and Canvas support, Rich Walsh's WPS enhancements, EA URL tagging of downloads, and more.

eComStation 2.0 RC 6a has been released, and is available to Software Subscription Service subscribers. It includes: FAT32/NTFS partition resizing, GenMAC network drivers, installation on JFS, SNAP/ENT, ACPI, Samba client, and more. The latest changes include installation from USB CD, and updated drivers and applications. Mensys has received permission from Adobe to distribute the Windows version of the Flash plugin with eCS. Presumably, this means that the existing "leaked" Flash 7 package no longer has any legal encumbrances. Unfortunately, the source code for that plugin wrapper is not available, and does not work with later Flash versions, so a new one will have to be written. From VOICE News.

Paul Smedley has released (12/26/2008) builds of CUPS version 1.3.9, Gutenprint 5.2.3, and Splix version 1.1.1. Also available (6/28/2008) is a CUPS port driver, which allows interfacing the standard OS/2 printing subsystem with CUPS. CUPS is the Common Unix Printing System; the goal is to improve the printing support in eComStation. You can see what printers are potentially supported; those mentioned as working with CUPS or Gutenprint should work. There is a newsgroup dedicated to discussion and feedback.
JAlbum version 8.1.5 has been released (12/24/2008). This is a web photo album generator that requires Java 1.5.
Paul Smedley has ported (12/23/2008) Subversion 1.5.5 to OS/2. Also available (9/2/2008) is another port of Subversion version 1.5.2. Subversion is software for version control, intended to replace CVS.
Iron Spring PL/I alpha version 0.7a has been released (12/23/2008). This is a compiler for the PL/I programming language, although it is currently missing some features.
SmartSVN version 5.0.2 has been released (12/22/2008). This is a Java Subversion GUI client, with features like built-in File Compare/Merge, Change Report or Tag and Branch handling, and more. It requires Java 1.4.1 or higher.
lzip version 1.3 has been ported (12/22/2008) to OS/2. This is a lossless file compressor that is almost as fast as gzip, and compresses better than bzip2. Thanks to Gary Wong for the info.

DejaVu fonts version 2.28 have been released (12/21/2008). This is a font family based on the Bitstream Vera Fonts, which provides support for a wide range of Unicode characters.
Paul Smedley has ported (12/20/2008) curl version 7.19.2 to OS/2. This is a tool for getting files using URL syntax, with SSL support.
WGET version 1.11.4 has been ported (12/19/2008) to OS/2. This is a utility to retrieve files from the World Wide Web using HTTP and FTP, in batch mode. The recursive retrieval of HTML pages, as well as FTP sites is supported - you can use it to make mirrors of archives and home pages. Re-getting incomplete files from where it left off works on servers (both HTTP and FTP) that support it. The latest version supports downloading files larger than 2GB, and from SSL sites. Mediatomb SVN r1995 has been ported (12/19/2008) to OS/2. This is an open source UPnP MediaServer with a nice web user interface, that allows you to stream your digital media to a variety of UPnP compatible devices. Thanks to Gary Wong for the info.
