SQLite Browser version 1.3g has been ported (2/7/2010) to OS/2. This is a visual tool used to create, design and edit database files compatible with SQLite.


4OS2 version 3.05A RC4 has been released (2/7/2010) as a netlabs.org project. Also available (5/9/2007) is version 3.04h. This is a command shell, formerly developed by JPSoft and now open source.


A third beta of SMplayer version 0.6.8 has been ported (2/6/2010) to OS/2. This is a GUI frontend for MPlayer, based on the Qt4 graphics toolkit. The latest version can be found via ftp.


The Blubbels version 0.9 port has been updated (2/6/2010). This is a game that uses Qt4.


Guiffy version 9.1 has been released (2/6/2010). Guiffy is a file compare / merge (diff-like) tool with a GUI implemented in Java.


nveth version 0.0.6 has been released (2/4/2010). This is a NDIS driver for NVIDIA chipset network adapters.


EVFSGUI version 2.0.2 has been released (2/4/2010). This is a fully drag and drop enabled GUI to manage SMB/CIFS connections; it is a heavily extended successor to EVFSGUI 1.3.x, which comes with current eCS 2.0 RCs. It works with EVFS and/or Netdrive, and requires the Samba client utilities. The latest version can be found via ftp.


SmartGit version 1.0.3 has been released (2/4/2010). This is a Java GUI client for the Git version control system. It requires Java 1.4.1 or higher.


libssh2 version 1.2.3 has been ported (2/4/2010) to OS/2. This is a library implementing the SSH2 protocol.


lsof has been ported (2/4/2010) to OS/2. This is a tool to list open files, and the processes that are using them.


SmartSVN version 6.5.4 has been released (2/3/2010). This is a Java Subversion GUI client, with features like built-in File Compare/Merge, Change Report or Tag and Branch handling, and more. It requires Java 1.4.1 or higher.


Artistic Style has been ported (2/3/2010) to OS/2. This is a C, C++, C#, and Java source code formatter and beautifier.


plzip version 0.4 has been ported (2/2/2010) to OS/2. This is a parallel version of the lzip lossless file compressor.


lzlib version 0.9RC1 has been ported (2/2/2010) to OS/2. This is a data compression library providing in-memory LZMA compression and decompression functions, using the lzip format.


libkva version 1.1.1 has been released (2/2/2010). This is a library for displaying video streams, which supports SNAP video overlays, WarpOverlay!, and DIVE. It has been used in KMP and recent ports of MPlayer.


libkai version 1.1.0 has been released (2/2/2010). The K Audio Interface is a DART and UNIAUD implementation library.


Agena version 0.30.4 has been ported (1/31/2010) to OS/2. This is an interpreted language suited for sophisticated procedural programming, with syntax like simplified Algol 68, with elements taken from Lua and SQL.


The Java Image Browser Sorter version 2.6.1 has been released (1/31/2010). This program requires Java 1.4.


EmperoarTV version 2.04a has been released (1/27/2010). This software brings support for many DVB cards, as well as the Hauppauge PVR150/250/350/500 TV cards to the OS/2 platform, including high quality MPEG2 hard disk recording and playback. You can listen to FM radio programs in stereo, watch TV programs in excellent image quality, and more. Also available is DVDFront, a front end that simplifies the creation of video DVDs out of recordings made by EmperoarTV. It supports both WarpOverlay and SNAP overlays. There is an online forum for discussion as well.


PrefBar version 5.0.1 has been released (1/30/2010). It allows you to configure several Mozilla settings on the fly, and incorporates the features of UABar.


PM CTorrent Manager version 0.10 has been released (1/30/2010). This is a graphical interface to the "Enhanced CTorrent" BitTorrent client.


cclive version 0.5.9 has been ported (1/29/2010) to OS/2. This is a command line video extraction utility, which allows you to download videos from supported websites, including YouTube, Google Video, and DailyMotion.


so version 0.6 has been released (1/29/2010). This is a utility to get info about processes, kill them, and more, in the tradition of the GO! utility.


Paul Smedley has ported (1/28/2010) BIND version 9.6.1p3 to OS/2. BIND is the Berkeley Internet Name Daemon, an implementation of DNS protocols. From VOICE News.


WDBasic version 0.8 has been released (1/28/2010). This is a BASIC interpreter built with WDSibyl.


A tool for using the CanoScan 4400F scanner has been updated. It allows you to scan paper, photos, slides, and film in color, greyscale, and bitonal.


Paul Smedley has ported (1/26/2010) Subversion 1.6.9 to OS/2. Also available (9/2/2008) is another port of Subversion version 1.5.2. Subversion is software for version control, intended to replace CVS. From VOICE News.


Paul Smedley has released (1/26/2010) an OS/2 port of Python version 2.6.4, as well as a Mercurial 1.0.2 module. There is also another port (1/1/2007) of Python 2.4.4; there are several extensions listed on that site as well. Python is a scripting language that comes from the Unix world. From VOICE News.


x264 version 0.83.x has been ported (1/24/2010) to OS/2. This is a H.264 (MPEG4 AVC) encoder library.


dos2unix and unix2dos version 4.1.2 have been released (1/24/2010). These command line tools convert plain text files from/to DOS and UNIX formats.


K Movie Player version 0.6.1 has been released (1/23/2010). This is a movie player based on FFPlay, without SDL dependencies and support for DIVE, SNAP video overlays, and WarpOverlay.


File version 5.0.4 has been ported (1/23/2010) to OS/2. This utility can identify the data type of several thousands of types of files, without relying on extensions.


Exiftool version 8.07 has been packaged (1/22/2010) for OS/2. This is a set of Perl modules plus an application script for reading and writing meta information in image, audio, video, and PDF files.


The SunnyIcons component of eSchemes Deluxe has been updated (1/21/2010) to version 2.1 RC6. The Piano Launchpad component is at version 1.38 (7/22/2008), and the Imagination component is at version 3.10 (4/6/2008). SunnyIcons offers support for PNG icons (warning: it conflicts with WPS Wizard!). Imagination consists of new WPS classes which simplify browsing of pictures; it offers a preview window and image viewing, with support for many common graphics formats. Piano Launchpad is a replacement for the old IBM Launchpad, with support for large icons. From VOICE News.


A few more Qt4 apps have been ported to OS/2 - FairSeaBattle version 1.0 (1/19/2010) is a battleship game, SudokuResolver version 2.0.2 (1/19/2010) offers lots of Sudoku combinations, and Qtar version 1.0.2 (1/18/2010) is useful for creating archives for Qt projects.


lzip version 1.9 has been ported (1/18/2010) to OS/2. This is a lossless file compressor that is almost as fast as gzip, and compresses better than bzip2.


WDSibyl has been updated (1/17/2010). This is an open source continuation of the commercial product Sibyl, which is a Pascal / Delphi compiler.


A few more Qt4 apps have been ported to OS/2 - QClip version 1.6 (1/17/2010) is a clipboard history applet, and Tanglet version 1.0.1 (1/13/2010) is a word finding game based on Boggle.


Two Qt4 note taking programs have been ported to OS/2 - ZNotes version 0.3.9 (12/29/2009) and Basqet version 0.1.3 (1/17/2010).


An updated version of MPlayer has been released (1/14/2010), which has support for Win32 codecs, UniAud, DIVE, SNAP video overlays, and WarpOverlay. There is a browser plugin included, as well as MEncoder, a simple movie encoder. Most MPEG/VOB, AVI, Ogg/OGM, VIVO, ASF/WMA/WMV, QT/MOV/MP4, RealMedia, Matroska, NUT, NuppelVideo, FLI, YUV4MPEG, and more are supported.


The Samba client utilities have been updated (1/14/2010) to version 1.0.4 (Samba version 3.0.37).


Logical Config.Sys Sort version 0.31 has been released (1/13/2010). This sorts the CONFIG.SYS file into logical sections.


NASM version 2.08 RC7 has been released (1/12/2010). The NASM assembler has support for X86 multimedia extensions, and supports a various number of object formats, including the old .obj format of the Borland compilers.


Harbour version 2.0.0 has been released (12/23/2009), as well some support libraries (1/11/2010) for Cairo, Curl, MySQL, Postgres, and OpenSSL. This is a free software compiler for the xBase superset language, often referred to as Clipper (as implemented by CA-Clipper). Thanks to David Macias for the news.


Qoobar version 1.1.0 has been ported (1/11/2010) to OS/2. This is a tag editor for music files, such as MP3 and Ogg Vorbis.


PHPMyAdmin version 3.2.5 has been released (1/10/2010). This is a set of PHP scripts to administer MySQL over the web.


Maul Publisher version 3.16a has been released (1/9/2010). Maul Publisher is "the world's first professional desktop publisher for OS/2 Warp." It will automatically take care of page numbering in folding booklets, reversal of margins for facing pages, page numbering offsets where you don't want to start from page one, reversal of margins for top bound booklets and top folding booklets, centering margins on printers with odd margins, and multiway folding sheets and maps. There is a language translation toolkit, so that anyone interested can provide translations for their native languages. There is also a mailing list. You can find the latest version on Hobbes.


Astrolog for OS/2 version 2.0 TP22 has been released (1/8/2010). This is astrology calculation, charting, and analysis software.


Scribus version 1.3.5.1 has been ported (1/7/2010) to OS/2. This page layout program supports professional publishing features, such as CMYK color, separations, ICC color management and versatile PDF creation. The latest version can be found on Paul Smedley's site. From VOICE News.


WCD version 5.1.1 has been ported (1/7/2010) to OS/2. Wherever Change Directory is a chdir command line utility.


The Samba server version 3.3.9 (labeled version 1.1 beta 5) has been ported (1/5/2010) to OS/2. Also available (12/28/2009) is version 3.0.37 (labeled version 1.0.3). This allows you to share your files without the need of NetBIOS (IBM LAN Manager or IBM Peer).


SDLMAME version 0.136 has been ported (1/4/2010) to OS/2. This is an SDL version of the Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator.


CMake version 2.8.0 has been ported (1/4/2010) to OS/2. This is a cross-platform, open-source build system. From VOICE News.


A few more Qt4 apps have been ported to OS/2 - Capitalism version 0.0.3b2 (1/3/2010) allows you to play online Monopoly like games with other players; QCheckers version 0.1 (1/2/2010) is a checkers game; Hexalate version 1.0.1 (1/1/2010) is a game where you have to align discs to match all the color rays.


DFSee has been updated (1/2/2010) to version 10.1. DFSee is an FDISK, display, analysis and recovery tool for disks and filesystems, including HPFS, NTFS, FAT, JFS, EXT2, EXT3, and ReiserFS. It includes the ability to resize partitions, cloning and imaging, undelete files, and more. There is also a support forum available.


LyX version 1.6.5 has been ported (1/2/2010) to OS/2. LyX is an open source WYSIWYM (what you see is what you mean) GUI document processor. Unlike standard word processors, LyX encourages an approach to writing based on the structure of your documents, not their appearance. LyX lets you concentrate on writing, leaving details of visual layout to the software. From VOICE News.


USB Dock has been updated (1/1/2010) on the eComstation BetaZone. This will show information on attached USB devices. From VOICE News.


Free Pascal version 2.4.0 has been released (1/1/2010). Free Pascal is a Pascal compiler that is semantically compatible with Borland Turbo Pascal and Borland Delphi.


cadaver version 0.23.3 has been ported (12/30/2009) to OS/2. This is a command line WebDAV client.


Clipgrab version 3.0.5 has been ported (12/29/2009) to OS/2. This allows you to download Flash videos from various web sites.


ACDataSeeker version 0.5.4 beta has been released (12/28/2009). This is a multithreaded PM text and file finder, intended as a replacement for PMSEEK.EXE.


bootAble version 6.4.4 has been released (12/27/2009). This is a script which can be used to create a maintenance partition or bootable CD with enough facilities to fully manage and recover your system. It contains support for LVM, HPFS, JFS, FAT32, UDF, and the CD file system.


Daniel Valot has some nice games featuring various tile sets and different layouts. Shisen-Sho, Mah Jongg, SameGame, and Lines have all been updated (12/27/2009) to version 1.24.


Moneydance 2010r2 build 735 has been released (12/27/2009). It is a personal finance manager written completely in Java. It includes transaction auto-completion, graphing, reporting, a reconciliation tool, running cleared vs uncleared balances, transaction sorting, double-entry, multiple currencies, multiple accounts and much more.


Abby version 0.4.7 has been ported (12/26/2009) to OS/2. This is a GUI front-end to the cclive command line video extraction utility.


JdeBP's CMD version 1.1.1 has been released (12/25/2009); you can find the latest version on Hobbes. This is a 32-bit command interpreter to replace the 16-bit CMD that comes with OS/2. It comes with a suite of related utilities, and there is a corresponding 32-bit Unicode Console API with a Developers Toolkit to replace the 16-bit VIO, MOU, and KBD subsystems.


OpenTTD version 0.7.5 has been released (12/23/2009). This is an open source clone of the popular DOS game "Transport Tycoon Deluxe" using SDL. Note that the original game data files or replacement graphics packs are required.


ProjectX version 0.9.15 has been packaged (12/23/2009) with some OS/2 startup scripts. This is a Java program that converts, repairs, and/or cuts DVB (MPEG-2) files.


Two Qt4 translation programs have been ported to OS/2, ASTranslator (12/20/2009) and QGoogleTranslate version 0.2b6 (12/10/2009) both translate text using the Google Translate engine.


JamochaMUD version 4.5 has been released (12/19/2009). This is an open-source Java MUCK/MUD client.


FlashBlock version 1.5.12 (for Firefox 1.5.x and later) and version 1.3.15 (for other Mozilla browsers) have been released (12/16/2009). This is a Mozilla / Firefox extension that replaces Flash animations with a "click to play" placeholder.


The RAR archiver has been updated (12/15/2009) to version 3.91 (the "DOS" version also has OS/2 support). This is a command-line compression utility, with tight general and multimedia compression, recovery record option management of non-RAR archives, RCVT aRchive ConVersion Tool, and more.


Form History Control version 1.1.4 has been released (12/13/2009). This is a Mozilla extension that allows you to manage the form data saved by your web browser.


ChatZilla version 0.9.86 has been released (12/13/2009). This is the IRC client that comes with the Mozilla suite. It now supports SSL and full Unicode nicknames.


SQLite version 3.6.21 has been ported (12/13/2009) to OS/2. Also available (4/13/2009) is another port of version 3.6.12. SQLite is an embedded SQL database library.


Eight Queens version 0.1 has been ported (12/11/2009) to OS/2; this is a logic puzzle.


JExpress version 7.5.7 has been released. This lets you create Java-based multilingual installers and auto-updaters. An easy to use Swing interface lets you design your installers quickly without requiring any programming. It can also select the exact classes your Java app uses, build your directory tree, and produce JAR files.


Ren83toLONGNAME version 1.00 has been released (12/9/2009). This will rename directories and files from their "real" names to their LONGNAME extended attribute.


wpsMon version 1.00 has been released. This is a tool for starting and terminating the WPS, and for registering, deregistering and replacing WPS classes.


Marryampic II version 0.8 has been ported to OS/2. This is a memory matching game. From OS2.org.


Paul Smedley has ported (12/5/2009) GCC version 4.4.2 to OS/2. This compiler allows many modern projects to be compiled for OS/2. Also available are ports of GCC versions 4.3.4, 4.3.3, 4.3.2, 4.0.4, and 3.4.6. From VOICE News.


ndplq has been updated (12/4/2009). This is a directory based quota management plugin for NetDrive that allows limiting the size of specified directories.


Btrieve Commander has been updated (12/3/2009). This is a Btrieve file viewer / editor.


Workplace Sans version 0.7 and Workplace Sans Bold version 0.3 have been released. This is a Unicode TrueType outline font that is designed to resemble the OS/2 bitmap font "WarpSans." Also available is Workplace Gothic and Workplace Gothic Bold version 0.1, a Unicode TrueType outline font with similar proportions to Workplace Sans and WarpSans, but with a rounder, more natural appearance.


C.a.R. version 9.2 has been released. This is a Java program that simulates school geometry constructions with a pair of compasses and a straightedge (ruler).


Nconvert version 5.54 has been released (11/30/2009). This is a multi-format image converter that supports more then 300 graphics formats.


KDiff3 version 0.9.95 has been ported (11/30/2009) to OS/2. This is a program that compares or merges two or three text input files or directories, shows the differences line by line and character by character, provides an automatic merge-facility, and more.


T&V HappyPlayer version 2.00 beta 12 has been released (11/29/2009). This is a PM application that operates TV cards built on the Brooktree BT848 chip, including some ATI and nVidia cards.


SigmaMD5 version 2.0.4a has been released (11/27/2009). This is a PM program that reads and creates MD5 checksum files, compatible with the GNU MD5SUM program. It provides a clear visual indication of checksum status (error's etc.) as well as error sorting and comprehensive logging facilities. It is useful for verifying that CD ISO images are valid prior to burning them to disc.


The GUI controls example of the SWT toolkit has been updated (11/27/2009). This is the Java GUI toolkit used by Eclipse; you can follow the development on this blog.


The USB-based monitor for APC Back-UPS CS/ES has been updated (11/26/2009) to version 0.11. The web site is in Russian, but there is an English readme file.


A few more Qt4 apps have been ported to OS/2 - Perceptron version 0.9 (11/24/2009) is a guessing game, and Kapow version 1.3.1 (11/25/2009) is a punch clock program for keeping track of project hours.


Paul Smedley has released OS/2 builds of PHP versions 5.2.11 (11/24/2009) and 5.3.0 (7/4/2009); modules supported include bz2, curl, dbase, exif, filepro, gd, gettext, mbstring, mysql, mysqli, openssl, pdo_mysql, pdo_sqlite, pgsql, and sqlite. Virtual Keyboard/2 version 0.9rc6 has been released (11/24/2009). This displays a keyboard on the screen, allowing you to use the mouse or a touch screen to type.


Jeti/2 version 0.7.8 has been updated (11/23/2009). This is a Java 1.4x client for instant messenger services, including Jabber, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and ICQ. From OS2.org.


Paul Smedley has released (11/20/2009) an OS/2 port of Apache version 2.2.14. Apache is the premiere web server of the Internet. From VOICE News.


PMMail/2 version 3.06 has been released. VOICE purchased the rights and source code for this popular email client; VOICE membership is required as part of the registration, but the demo version can be used for one account, and some other limitations.


MailRedirect version 0.74 was updated (11/18/2009). This Mozilla extension allows you to bounce / redirect email messages from Thunderbird and Seamonkey. Note that the latest version is on the main page, NOT the installation page!


GBM version 1.64 has been released (11/16/2009). Generalised Bitmap Module is a library for handling many different bitmap file formats, and is used by applications like Mesa, PM-Raw, and PM-Exif. It includes a PM bitmap viewer and editor. It now features a REXX interface library, as well as plugins for Lucide and Mozilla. The source code is freely available and released as public domain. The latest features include support for JPEG 2000, including the OpenJPEG library and tools.


FTP server version 1.33 has been released (11/15/2009). Compared to the standard ftpd in OS/2, this one has better security controls, together with extra features such as symbolic links. From VOICE News.


gif2png version 2.5.2 has been ported (11/14/2009). This program converts files from the Graphic Interchange Format to Portable Network Graphics.


SearchPlus version 1.70 has been released (11/11/2009). This tool does simultaneous multiple file searches, including in zip archives. Search criteria can include contents, file size, file date, attributes, and actions can include edit, open, delete, copy, move, execute.


Download Machine version 0.24 has been released (11/8/2009). This Java progam is a batch download tool with resume support for HTTP and FTP.


SDL version 1.2.14 has been ported (11/6/2009) to OS/2. Additional features from SDL/2 1.2.10 are: fixed 24bit RGB colormap (os2dive, os2vman); new configuration switches (environment variables); and a workaround for Virtual PC (with Additional Display Driver).


The TIFF library version 3.9.2 has been ported (11/6/2009) to OS/2. Included is libtiff, for reading and writing the image files, a small collection of tools for doing simple manipulations, and documentation.


NYAOS version 2.30 has been released (11/1/2009). This is an enhanced command line shell, which has some similarities to tcsh. From os2.jp.


dcraw version 8.98 has been ported (11/1/2009) to OS/2; version 0.49 of the "vcd" experimental version has also been ported (2/6/2009). This is a digital camera RAW file conversion utility.


DVDBurn version 0.9.7 has been released. This is a GUI frontend for ffmpeg, dvdauthor, mkisofs2, and dvddao to transcode video files, create a DVD structure, and build and burn a DVD image.


lSwitcher version 2.71 beta 0 has been released (10/31/2009). lSwitcher is a PM and fullscreen Alt-Tab task switcher, and now includes a widget for XCenter.


The Qt4 game Colorcode version 0.5.5 has been ported (10/31/2009) to OS/2. This is a clone of the MasterMind game.


OpenSSH version 5.3p1 has been ported (10/28/2009) to OS/2. OpenSSH is a free version of the Secure Shell (SSH) protocol suite, and uses Security/2 for some features.


DVD/CD Toys version 0.08 has been released (10/27/2009). This is a set of utilities to burn CD and DVD disks, and ISO images. From OS2.org.


Weasel version 1.80 has been released (10/26/2009). This is a "lightweight" SMTP/POP server that has multi-domain support. Also available (9/6/2009) is the IMAPD version 0.1 module. From VOICE News.


PNGcrush version 1.7.4 has been ported (10/24/2009) to OS/2. This is for size reduction of the PNG IDAT datastream by trying various compression levels and PNG filter methods.


Samba client version 1.5 beta 4 has been released (10/23/2009), based on Samba 3.0.37. This is a plugin for the NetDrive Filesystem, which allows you to mount SMB or CIFS shares on OS/2 without the need of NetBIOS (IBM LAN Manager or IBM Peer). There is also a Samba port driver (5/8/2009) for printing to shared printers.


Several Qt4 games have been ported (10/23/2009) to OS/2, including Cutemaze 1.1.0, Multilotek 1.0, Peg-e 1.1.0, gottet 1.0.3, openpref 0.1.3, and simsu 1.2.1.


Qccrypt version 0.2 has been ported (10/23/2009) to OS/2. This is a GUI front-end to the ccrypt command line utility.


The Qt4 games Gomoku and Tubularix have been updated (10/21/2009) for OS/2.


SafeFire PPP/Links version 1.3 alpha has been updated (10/19/2009). SafeFire PPP/Links supports PPtP, MSCHAP, ISDN, a traffic shaper, an identd server, remote control, and more.


TextHelper version 1.07 has been released (10/19/2009). This is a rudimentary editor, but has special support for printing text in various compact ways on HP Deskjet and Laserjet printers. From VOICE News.


Iron Spring PL/I beta version 0.8c has been released (10/17/2009). This is a compiler for the PL/I programming language, although it is currently missing some features.


Dwdiff version 1.6.1 has been ported (10/16/2009) to OS/2. This is a front-end for the diff program that operates at the word level instead of the line level.


Privoxy (formerly JunkBuster) version 3.0.15 beta has been released (10/12/2009). This is a web proxy with advanced filtering capabilities for protecting privacy, filtering web page content, managing cookies, controlling access, and removing ads, banners, pop-ups and other obnoxious Internet junk. ISO9660 Analyzer Tool version 1.7 has been ported (10/11/2009) to OS/2. This is a tool for detecting the structure of many types of DVD/CD-ROM image file formats.


QEmu version 0.11.0 has been ported (10/3/2009) to OS/2. This is a virtual machine / emulator; there are screenshots and an overview (in German). From OS2World.


The third OS/2 release of GNU make version 3.81 is now available (9/28/2009). This tool is used for building programs on the command line.


WarpIN version 1.0.19 has been released (9/26/2009). This is an open source PM installer / uninstaller, that can also install quietly through environment variables. It also offers self-installing executables.


FM/2 version 3.17 has been released (9/20/2009). This is an open source GUI file manager program, with lots of extra helper utilities. There is now a version with high memory support. The source code is available from netlabs.org. Thanks to Gregg Young and David Graser for the info.


PMViewMol3D version 0.2.3 beta has been released (9/20/2009). This program is intended for fast visualization of molecular structures, using OpenGL (WarpMesaGL). It can handle output files produced by programs such as UNEX, Gaussian, PC GAMESS / US GAMESS, and Priroda. From OS2.org.


WSedit version 0.99k has been released (9/19/2009). This is an editor with CUA and Wordstar key commands, syntax highlighting, translation, spell checking, function key macro recorder, and a lot of other features. Also available is WSformat, a formatting and printing program for Wordstar files. WSedit is Freeware, WSformat is Shareware.

p7zip version 9.04 has been ported (9/18/2009) to OS/2. This is an archiving utility with better compression ratios than many other archivers.


PMTPOSD2 version 1.09 has been released (9/18/2009). This is an On Screen Display utility for Thinkpads, which shows the volume settings, LCD screen brightness, and monitor selection. It is open source; the source is included in the package. From VOICE News.


PMView, the indispensable graphics viewer, has been updated (9/17/2009) to version 3.54. Version 3.x has several new features, including EXIF support, scripted batch conversions, lossless JPEG rotation, and flyover image info; see the full list of what's new for more info. newLISP version 10.1.5 has been ported (9/15/2009) to OS/2. This is a LISP-like scripting language for CGI programming, system administration, text processing, etc.


Stella version 3.0 has been ported (9/14/2009) to OS/2. This is a multi-platform Atari 2600 VCS emulator which allows you to play all of your favorite Atari 2600 games. From OS2.org.


4allCalc (formerly pmCalc) version 4.12 has been released. This is a calculator with scientific functions, easy transfer to/from the clipboard, regression, and more.


MindTerm version 3.3 is now available; this is a SSH client written in Java.


The ACPI driver has been updated to version 3.17 on the eComStation Betazone (for Software Subscription customers only). Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) is a replacement for APM, PnP, and related hardware features. It features support for multiprocessor systems (SMP, Dual Core, and HyperThreading), there is an APM driver, and an ACPI Setup tool that replaces the Power object. NDPDAV version 1.1.2 has been released (9/5/2009). This is a WebDav client for NetDrive, which allows you to connect to Apache mod_dav WebDAV resources as regular directories on a NetDrive virtual volume. WebDAV is a set of extensions to the HTTP protocol which allows users to collaboratively edit and manage files on remote web servers. From VOICE News.


USB ModeSwitch version 1.0.2a has been ported (9/5/2009) to OS/2. This is a small mode switching tool for controlling "flip flop" (multiple device) USB gear; such devices present themselves as a USBMSD device for (usually Win32) driver installation, and then switch to their primary function.


The osFree project has released (9/3/2009) version 0.04. This is a project to create open-source versions of the base OS/2 pieces; this preview shows that OS/2 executables can be run on the L4 kernel. There is also a mailing list. From VOICE News.


REXXUTIL documentation version 1.2 has been released. This INF file describes the OS/2 REXX Utilities library in much more detail than IBM's REXX.INF, includes all new functions added since Warp 3, and has detailed coverage of subjects like EAs and WPS setup strings.


XZ Utils version 4.999.9 beta has been ported (8/30/2009) to OS/2. This is a general purporse data compression library and command line tools, which create about 30% smaller files than gzip.


Ccrypt version 1.9 has been ported (8/29/2009) to OS/2. This is a utility for encrypting and decrypting files and streams, designed as a replacement for the standard unix crypt utility.


DejaVu fonts version 2.30 have been released (8/27/2009). This is a font family based on the Bitstream Vera Fonts, which provides support for a wide range of Unicode characters.


mtpsync version 0.0.2 has been released (8/23/2009). This is a utility to work with USB MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) devices.


Binary GetyourNews version 1.1.00 has been released (8/18/2009). This is a newsgroup attachment downloader, based on GetyourNews Version 2.16.2, with header filtering and a few other improvements.

TiMidity++ version v2.10.4 has been ported (8/11/2009) to OS/2. This is a standalone player for MIDI files and other synthesized audio formats, using software wavetable synthesis. It is provided as a WarpIn package for easy installation, and there is a collection of high-quality sound samples (EAWPatches) available to be used with it.


Mercury Messenger version 1.9.5 has been released (8/9/2009). This is a Java MSN Messenger client. From VOICE News.


Paul Smedley has ported (8/7/2009) CUPS version 1.3.11, as well as Gutenprint 5.2.4, and Splix version 1.1.1. The latest build includes improved support for USB printers. Also available (4/10/2009) is a CUPS port driver, which allows interfacing the standard OS/2 printing subsystem with CUPS. CUPS is the Common Unix Printing System; the goal is to improve the printing support in eComStation. Simple Samba Configuration Center has been updated (8/6/2009) to version 0.9.1. This allows you to edit an available smb.conf, already available keys, and add and remove shares and printers. There are also other Samba-related utilities on the web site.


PMRaw version 2.4 rev2 has been released (8/3/2009). This is a graphical front-end to dcraw, which lets you display images from digital cameras in RAW-format, and convert them to BMP or JPG.


The Java Imaging Utilities version 0.14.3 has been released (8/3/2009). This library offers functionality to load, analyze, process and save pixel images.

SmartCVS version 7.0.9 has been released (7/28/2009). This is a Java CVS GUI client, with features like built-in File Compare/Merge, Transaction display or List Repository Files, and more. It requires Java 1.4.1 or higher.


ClamAV version 0.95.2.1 has been ported (7/27/2009) to OS/2. This is a GPL anti-virus toolkit, which features a command line scanner, a tool for automatic updating via the Internet, and integration with mail servers (attachment scanning). From VOICE News.


The distributed.net client version 2.9105.511b has been released (7/27/2009). There is also a personal proxy, now (2/15/2009) on build 347. This is a distributed computing project where you can contribute some of your computing power towards research, primarily in the encryption field.


Version 0.03 of an experimental OS2LDR replacement has been updated (7/19/2009). It features support for a configuration file, in which you can specify which kernel file to boot, along with other features.

Paul Smedley has released (7/4/2009) an OS/2 port of MySQL version 5.1.36. There is also an OS/2 port (8/9/2008) of MySQL version 5.0.67. NZBGet version 0.7.0 has been ported (7/1/2009) to OS/2. This is a binary newsgrabber, which downloads files from usenet.

aget version 0.4.1 has been ported (6/23/2009) to OS/2. This is a multi-threaded HTTP download accelerator.


OS2MT has been updated (6/20/2009) to version 0.78 beta. This is a maintenance tool that enables you to download and install various applications with a couple clicks of the mouse. There is also a mailing list for it on Yahoo Groups.


SETI@Home is a distributed computing project similar to the encryption cracking efforts run by distributed.net. The SETI@Home concept is to distribute radio telescope data gathered by the SETI project (SETI = Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) to thousands of computers over the Internet so that the data can be analyzed for signals that might be of intelligent origin. The client software runs in the background when your computer is idle. An OS/2 client of "boinc" version 6.6.29 is now (6/19/2009) available. If you run it, join the OS/2 team.


PM VNC Viewer version 1.04 has been released (6/13/2009). This is a VNC client, which allows remote control of any VNC server, whether it be Unix, Win32, Mac, or OS/2 systems.


IpConfigPM version 1.3 has been released (6/13/2009). This is a graphical interface for changing the IP address, domain name and DNS servers.


Mr. Message has been updated (6/8/2009). This is an instant messenger client which is capable of communicating over AOL's Instant Messenger network using the OSCAR protocol.


Internet Application Integration version 1.0.9.2 has been released (6/5/2009). This allows you to specify the default Internet applications for web, mail, news, ftp, and irc. It can also install the Run! package and add registry entries for FT2Lib support.


RUN! version 0.80 has been released (6/4/2009). This program can eliminate the batch files and config.sys entries often needed to start 'helper-apps' (e.g. opening your web browser from your email client). It sets the current drive, directory, & BeginLibPath to the directory containing the .exe, starts the program, then terminates. It can also set environment variables, change the priority, redirect output, and more.

eCo Software has created the "La-la-la" site, dedicated to software for music. Included (5/18/2009) are eCo Tunes and MMIO Cast, both of which are interfaces for Internet radio. From OS2.org.


QueenCy version 0.2.10 has been released. This is a painting program for OS/2, which supports the Wacom tablets. There are also drivers for the Wacom tablets on that page, including support for USB. From os2.jp.


A driver for MCS7830 based USB to Ethernet adapters has been updated (5/14/2009) to version 1.1.


GNU Ocrad version 0.18 has been ported (5/12/2009) to OS/2. This is an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program, that reads a bitmap image in pbm, pgm and ppm formats and produces text in 8-bit or UTF-8 formats.


FluidSynth version 1.0.9 has been ported (5/10/2009) to OS/2. This is a software real-time synthesizer based on the Soundfont 2 specifications.


REXX Function package for REXX based CGI scripts version 1.51 has been released (5/9/2009). This provides additional REXX functions for CGI scripts. It handles form processing (GET and POST methods) with data validation, supports file uploads, sending e-mail and attachments via SMTP, checking and retrieving POP3 mail, getting documents via HTTP, building PDF documents and a range of useful date, file and string functions, and more. id3v2 version 0.1.11 has been ported (5/7/2009) to OS/2. This is a command line id3v2 tag editor for MP3 files, which can add, modify, remove, and view id3v2 tags, and convert from id3v1 tags.


OS/2 API Trace version 2.45.38 has been released (5/4/2009). This tool allows you to trace the 16-bit and 32-bit OS/2 APIs used by any application without requiring the application's source code.


Paul Smedley has updated (5/3/2009) his OS/2 port of FFMpeg. This is a complete (command line driven) solution to record, convert, and stream audio and video. Note that WarpVision, KMP, and MPlayer all use this library.


ScummVM version 0.13.1 has been released (4/27/2009). This allows you to run several adventure games, provided you have the data files. Games known to work include Space Quest I & II, King's Quest I-III, Legend of Kyrandia, Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2; Beneath A Steel Sky, Broken Sword 1 and Broken Sword 2; Flight of the Amazon Queen; and games based on LucasArts' SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) system, including Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max and more. KeyCalc version 1.1 has been released (4/26/2009). This is a scientific calculator that allows you to choose between RPN and algebraic mode, and between real and complex arithmetic. From VOICE News.


LPR32 version 1.1 has been released (4/20/2009). This is port driver for IP printing, which can be used as an alternative to IBM's SLPR driver.


PhotoRec version 6.11 has been ported (4/19/2009) to OS/2. This is a file data recovery software designed to recover lost pictures and other data files from digital camera memory or hard disks. Also available is TestDisk, a tool for partition analysis and recovery. Both of these utilities currently only work with image files under OS/2.


Paul Smedley has ported (4/16/2009) ISC DHCP client version 3.12. It has been modified to be compatible with the old IBM DHCP client.


Dynamic Windows version 1.1 has been released (4/12/2009). This is a cross-platform application framework that was designed to make it easy to create dynamic applications with a modern interface, and was modeled after the GTK library.


Paul Smedley has ported (4/12/2009) Rsync version 3.0.5 to OS/2. This is a useful utility for syncing files between machines, and includes support for EAs.

addcr/delcr has been released (3/27/2009). This is a more versatile version of the unix2dos / dos2unix newline conversion utility, which accepts filenames with wildcards, recurses into subdirectories, and can either convert files in-place or convert & copy them to a target directory.


Paul Smedley has released (3/23/2009) an OS/2 build of ImageMagick version 6.5.0-5. This is a free software suite to create, edit, and compose bitmap images. It can read, convert and write images in a large variety of formats.


Mediatomb SVN r2018 has been ported (3/23/2009) to OS/2. This is an open source UPnP MediaServer with a nice web user interface, that allows you to stream your digital media to a variety of UPnP compatible devices. From VOICE News.

wxWidgets (formerly wxWindows) version 2.8.10 has been released (3/17/2009). This is a sophisticated cross-platform C++ framework for writing advanced GUI applications using (where possible) the native controls.

BMI Doctor/2 version 1.15 has been released (3/5/2009). This is a program to calculate body mass index and basal metabolism.


PM123 version 1.40 alpha 4 has been released. Also available (6/2/2008) is PM123 version 1.32. This is an open source MP3, OGG, WAV, and CD Audio player. Some of the features include sharing of the sound card, playlist with drag/drop support, HTTP streaming, and the use of skins to change the program's look.


GenINI version 1.2 has been released (3/1/2009); this is a pair of programs to back up OS/2 INI files in human-readable form, and to restore an INI file from the human-readable form. GenINI is freeware and open source. From VOICE News.


Lucide version 1.21 has been released (2/27/2009) on the eComstation BetaZone. This is a multi-purpose document viewer, using plugins for different formats. Paul Smedley has released (2/23/2009) an OS/2 port of Squid version 3.0.stable13. Squid offers high performance proxy caching for Web clients supporting FTP, Gopher, and HTTP requests.


Java Movie Database version 1.3.6 has been refreshed (2/17/2009). This is a Java based application for searching and getting information about movies and actors, getting the data from the Internet Movie Database (IMDB).


dmidecode version 2.10 has been ported (2/9/2009) to OS/2. This tool reports information about your system's hardware, as described in your system BIOS, according to the SMBIOS/DMI standard.


EMT4PM version 4.38 has been released (2/8/2009). EMT4PM is a PM utility to build disk images, and write images to disk.


eStyler version 1.1.92 has been released (2/2/2009) on the eComstation BetaZone (for Software Subscription customers only). It features enhanced titlebars, enhanced push buttons, Windows keys support, and enhanced shutdown. This version of Styler/2 only works on eComStation. From VOICE News.


LAME version 3.98.2 has been ported (1/29/2009) to OS/2. LAME is an MP3 encoder, and includes a graphical frame analyzer.


Two CD-ROM libraries have been ported (1/29/2009) to OS/2: libcddb version 1.3.0 and libcdio version 0.81. Libcddb is a library that implements the protocols for accessing data on a CDDB server, such as freedb.org. Libcdio is a library for CD-ROM and CD image access.


ABCm2PS has been ported (1/29/2009) to OS/2. This is a program for typesetting of musical scores; it uses a page description language (ABC) and produces PostScript output.


eCSClamAV version 1.0.0 has been released; this is a GUI for the ClamAV anti-virus package. From OS2.org.


Archive Viewer version 2.02 has been released (1/20/2009) on the eComStation Betazone. This is GUI tool for viewing and extracting archive files of various types. From VOICE News.


whois version 4.7.30 has been ported (1/17/2009) to OS/2. This is a new whois (RFC 954) client that is intelligent and can automatically select the appropriate whois server for most queries.


USBcfg version 0.71 has been released (1/12/2009). This application is designed to help (re)configure USB drivers and devices. It does not install USB drivers, it helps sort out driver parameters.


pbzip2 version 1.0.5 has been ported (1/10/2009) to OS/2. This is a parallel version of bzip2, which is faster on SMP machines, and remains fully compatible with bzip2.


ipSpool version 1.04 has been released (1/9/2009). This is a queue processor that manages the pipe between a printer and an Internet address; this can be used for port 9100 printing, such as with HP JetDirect cards. From VOICE News.


The "widescreen activators" for Intel and ATI chipsets have been updated (1/3/2009) to version 0.80 beta; these hack the VESA BIOS to support some widescreen modes. From OS2.org.
