MMAudioPak2 contains codecs for FLAC, MP3, and OGG Vorbis, which have been updated to version 0.3.0, 0.4.3, and 0.3.2, respectively. Link Guard Solutions has released (8/28/2003) SafeFire Firewall 1.2 beta. It is now freeware; LGS will still support it and continue to fix bugs, but future development of this product line is stopped in favor of SafeFire Links. Registered users of previous versions of SafeFire Firewall will receive a free upgrade to SafeFire Links 2.0 SOHO as soon as it is available. Micropress, Inc has updated (8/13/2003) VTeX/2, the free OS/2 port of the TeX-to-pdf compiler VTeX, and is now based on v8.23 of the TeX-PDF compiler. VTeX is a TeX program, which generates PDF or PostScript output from TeX source files. CAD-handler has been updated (7/21/2003). This offers a Ctrl-Alt-Del popup menu, including a mini process list with kill, ability to unmount and remount filesystems, and reset the WPS.
NTFS.IFS version 1.07 has been released (7/20/2003). This is a readonly IFS driver for NTFS partitions, that is only available to eCS users.

Electronic Teller, one of OS/2's oldest shareware home financial applications, has been updated (7/6/2003) to version 4.20. Electronic Teller is a home finance application that allows you to keep track of your checking, credit card and cash accounts. It can keep track of multiple accounts and multiple users, and can import .QIF files from Quicken.
REXX Function package for REXX based CGI scripts version 0.26 has been released (7/6/2003). This provides additional REXX functions for CGI scripts. It handles form processing (GET and POST methods) with data validation, supports file uploads, sending e-mail and attachments via SMTP, checking and retrieving POP3 mail, getting documents via HTTP, building PDF documents and a range of useful date, file and string functions. QueenCy version 0.1.4e has been released (6/16/2003). This is a painting program for OS/2, which supports the Wacom tablets. F version 4.75 beta has been released (6/8/2003). F is a freeware text-mode configurable file manager, with an FTP/FXP client, an editor with syntax-highlighting, numerous tools for developers, simple e-mail and news clients, as well as small HTTP and FTP servers.
There are now (6/8/2003) versions of UPS Monitor for APC models Back-UPS Pro, Smart-UPS and other APC smart signaling UPS; APC models Back-UPS and Back-UPS Office simple signaling UPS; Guardian On Board PowerCard UPS; and contact closure UPS models by Tripplite (INTERNET Office model 500 and 700) and IBM (Professional Office models 500 and 700). It will monitor the status of the UPS, and provide shutdown services to the operating system.
Normalize version 0.7.6 has been ported (6/7/2003) to OS/2. Normalize is an overly complicated tool for adjusting the volume of wave files to a standard volume level. This is useful for things like creating mp3 mixes, where different recording levels on different albums can cause the volume to vary greatly from song to song.
The Perl Compatible Regular Expressions Library (PCRE) version 4.3 has been ported (6/5/2003) to OS/2. It is available as a regular DLL, and as a REXX-callable DLL.
Lynx version 2.85dev16 has been ported (6/4/2003) to OS/2. Also available (7/18/2001) is an older port of Lynx 2.8.4rel1. Lynx is a text-mode WWW browser.

Run_Java has been updated (5/26/2003). This will create a "Create Java Object" program object on your desktop. Just drop a .jar file on the object to create a program object for the .jar file. EXIF-O-Matic version 1.1.8 has been released (5/20/2003). This is a Java tool for dealing with the meta-data within image files created by digital cameras; it can export the information to TXT and HTML.
An OS/2 port of cdrdao 1.1.8 (fix1) has been released (5/20/2003). cdrdao is a free CD-R/RW writing program for Disk At Once mode. There is also an older port of cdrdao 1.1.3 available (12/11/99).
Paul Ratcliffe has developed a bugfixed and multiple process enabled (at the moment 4 processes) version of aspirout.sys, which is needed for some of the free CD recording utilities. It is currently at version 1.1 beta 9. From VOICE News.

AutoScroll has been updated (4/23/2003), and now works remarkably similar to the version I created previously (it looks like he used my autoscroll.js patches). AutoScroll is an addon for Mozilla and Phoenix that allows autoscrolling functionality similar to HotScroll and XWorkPlace. For those unfamiliar with this, when you middle click on a page, you can then move the mouse up and down to have the page scroll.

Marty Amodeo has added (4/14/2003) symbolic link support to the EMX libraries, and many of the common utilities. It utilizes OS/2 extended attributes to emulate symbolic links.
Squeak version 3.5 has been ported (4/13/2003) to OS/2. Squeak is the open source smalltalk. This port includes full network access and handles native sound and uses DIVE for fast video. Squeak is written in itself - you can inspect, change and extend any part of the language, application, or even the virtual machine, while it is running.

dskxtrct version 1.3 has been released (4/2/2003). This tool can extract files from DSK diskette image files that IBM provides. You can use it to extract FixPak files and apply them from the hard drive.

ThirdEye version 2.20 has been updated. ThirdEye is a universal digital camera manipulation program, that supports cameras from Agfa, Olympus, Epson, Nikon, Sanyo, Kodak, HP, and Konica. It has a REXX interface, a NetDrive plugin, and both PM and VIO versions of the application. This allows you to browse the pictures in your digital camera with your favorite filemanager or the WPS. Jikes version 1.18 has been ported (3/5/2003) to OS/2. Jikes is a high performance Java byte-code compiler. It is much faster than JAVAC, has better dependency checking, and has stricter error checking.
WebMail/2 is a 'hotmail.com-style' system for OS/2, now (3/3/2003) on version 14.0. WebMail/2 runs along with your existing pop3/smtp server, and it can read the user database of Weasel, IPS, InetMail, and ZXMail.

CW-USBMSD version 1.2b has been released (1/28/2003). This package contains drivers to use USB mass storage class compliant devices, and supports other, maybe more, devices than the IBM drivers. There is also Yuri Dario's patch for IBM's usbmsd.add, with support for the Olympus digital cameras, which was updated (3/3/2003) to version 1.3b.

IBM has updated (2/27/2003) the driver for the internal 56K Lucent modem, which is used on some ThinkPads. You need a Software Choice subscription or access to eCS updates to get this. Also available (10/8/2002) is a beta driver which supports V.90. From OS2World.

POSIX/2 beta 0.1.1 has been released (2/21/2003). This adds BSD interface additions to EMX, to give OS/2 a complete POSIX / Single Unix Specification evironment. CVS version 1.12.0.2 has been ported (2/19/2003) to OS/2. Also available (8/22/2002) is another port of version 1.11.2. This is a very useful tool for projects with multiple developers.
Audio/Data-CD-Creator version 0.53 has been released (2/16/2003). It is a folder class for the WPS which works as a frontend for cdrecord/2 for creating audio and data CDs. Daniela Engert has released (2/14/2003) DaniATAPI version 0.3.14. DaniATAPI is a replacement for IBM's ATAPI drivers (IBMIDECD, IBMATAPI, PCM2ATA.ADD, and OS2PCARD.DMD). It features support for ZIP-250, including full media swapping, and even booting from ZIP. It has faster 32bit PIO when used with danis506, and devices can be used as SCSI, for use with programs like CDRecord.

Rexx2Nrx, a 'classic Rexx to NetRexx converter', has been updated to version 4.01. Rexx2Nrx attempts to convert classic Rexx programs to NetRexx. A runtime package is provided including the 'classic Rexx builtin functions' not available in NetRexx, like Date/Time, File IO, builtin Stack, etc.

fetchmail version 6.2.1b1 has been ported (2/3/2003) to OS/2. Also available (2/22/2002) is another port of version 5.9.8. This can fetch mail by POP or IMAP, and forward by SMTP to local system or elsewhere.
XWorkplace version 1.0.1, the successor to XFolder, has been released (2/2/2003). It includes all the features of XFolder 0.85, virtual desktops using xPager (formerly PageMage), a replacement for WarpCenter (XCenter), a trash can, most of the NPSWPS and WarpEnhancer features, object hotkeys, lots of new settings pages, and more. WarpZip version 3.9 has been released (1/28/2003). This program will now search for, list, view, extract and do "near seamless" installations from ZIP, ARJ, RAR, LZH, TGZ, GZ, WPI, and OS/2 "packed" file formats. It also features a Download PreProcessor that will selectively move your downloaded zip files to any directory you choose, test them for integrity, virus test them, and queue them up for later review. RealTek 8139 network driver version 3.23 has been released (1/28/2003). It should work on Realtek 8139 / 8130 / 810x chips. There is also a RTL8139 CardBus enabler, which includes a patch for PCMCIA.SYS to allow CardBus access functions, and a tool to view information about inserted PCCard and CardBus cards.
