About the program:
-----------------
This months meeting is your chance to shape the future of the OS/2 Sig. As of last meeting Donna Walker passed the Chairmanship of the OS/2 Sig over to me (Kevin McCrory). (Thanks Donna for all your hard work over the past two years. )

The June meeting is for members to sound off...Let me know what topics you'd like to hear in the coming months, the demonstrations you'd like to see. I'd also like to hear your ideas on what direction the Sig should go. Now is your chance to make your voice heard. I have a number of ideas and changes that I think be beneficial to the Sig.

1. I want to discuss changing the Sig meetings to only one night each month. We have trouble getting venodrs in to demonstrate their products. Its very difficult to arrange for out of town vendors to present their products two nights in a row. If we could pack both meetings with 100-200 people per night they might be willing to do it but alas we don't get that many folks at the meetings. Its also a lot to ask for our volunteers to take two nights to present their demos. The change will help provide for quality demonstrations for the group. Now before everyone starts getting all hot and bothered about it....

There are a couple of options for your consideration
a. THe meetings will be held in Maryland only.
b. The meetings will be held in Virginia only.
c. The meetings will alternate between Maryland and Virginia.

Also for consideration is the day of the week to hold the meeting. The availability of the CPCUG HQs room has to be taken into account as well as the availability of the Washington Gas auditorium. I want to hear what you think.

2. Kirby Thornton is working on putting together several OS/2 training courses for CPCUG. He will soon have the goals of each course done. I would like some volunteers to take the course goals and help flesh out the topics needed to meet the course objectives. The final product will be an exportable training class, complete with slides in HTML and teachers course book so that almost anyone can teach the classes. If you'd like to work on this project, please send either myself or Kirby a note. Thanks in advance.

3. There has been a desire to see shootout type of demonstrations between various OS/2 programs. I feel that the monthly meetings are too short to do this type of demonstration justice. I'm looking at providing a few of these "shootout" demonstrations for a Saturday seminar session. Volunteers are needed to help with these demonstrations. Why not step forward to present your favorite program?

4. Along with the classes above we are looking at the current CPCUG course offerings for those where the Sig might extend the class with some OS/2 specific content. Anyone who would like to help please get in touch with either Kirby or myself.

5. We're going to be putting together a survey for all Sig members. One version will be posted here on the Web site. For those who use the MIX another copy will be posted there for you to fill out and return. Please only fill out a survey once.

6. The TIA/SLIP kit on the mix needs to be updated and all the programs checked to ensure proper operation. Any volunteers for this project??

7. Jim McConnell has stepped down as Virgina Vice Chairman. Thanks for a job well done Jim. The position is open for anyone who would like to volunteer. We need your help to keep the OS/2 Sig running smoothly.

Volunteers are what keeps this Sig operating. If you're interested in getting involved please let me know...

For those who need them you can get DIRECTIONS TO THE MEETINGS: here.
