OS/2 Special Interest Group

CPCUG OS/2 Special Interest Group's (SIG)
November 1997 Meeting

8:00 p.m. Feature presentation, Ed Somerville, ERSCO, a presentation and demonstration of electronic conferencing using Databeam's NET.120 software.

About the program:
-----------------

Electronic conferencing encompasses audio conferencing (G.72X), document conferencing
(T.12X), and video conferencing (H.32X). The main focus of this meeting
will be document conferencing for presentations and collaboration. Audio
and video conferencing are inter-related and can be subjects for October's
meeting. Ed will provide an overview of electronic conferencing and
specifically demonstrate document conferencing's ability to "present into a
standard browser" and "collaborate using a Java applet". Both work today
over the Internet, and both work today for OS/2.

Our speaker, Mr. Ed Somerville is President of the consulting
firm ERSCO, the Electronic Representation Sales Company. Ed has worked in
IT since 1968 for Memorex and others. He managed videoconferencing
operations for CLI's Washington office from 1985 to 1995. Ed is currently
affiliated with DataBeam and others who are pursuing the migration of
electronic conferencing from telecom (circuit switched) to datacom (packet
switched).

We look forward to seeing you at this very exciting meeting. And if you are
unable to attend, contact us and we may be able to provide access via
electronic connection.
