CPCUG OS/2 Special Interest Group's (SIG)
Meeting Format

Meeting hours are 7:00-9:00pm.

The first hour (7:00pm) is for informal technical discussions and Q&A time. The second hour (8:00pm) is for the formal presentation.

Directions to the meetings:

Due to CPCUG's new leasing arrangements, meetings are no longer held at the Capital PC User Group's main offices at 51 Monroe Street, Rockville, Maryland.  We are currently meeting at the GEICO building in Friendship Heights, MD.  Please check the OS/2 SIG mailing list for information on exact meeting locations and dates.  Note that for security reasons, you must supply your contact information prior to attending a meeting.  This information is only for GEICO security, and will not be used for any other purpose.

DIRECTIONS:

Via Metro:  Take red line to Friendship Heights station.  Exit to underground courtyard.  Exit toward Hecht's from courtyard.  Head North on Rockville Pike, then turn left on Willard Avenue (the first light.)  At the next light, GEICO is on the left across the street.  Walk down the stairs into the underground garage, and left past the entrance for the Chevy Chase claims facility.   You'll see newspaper machines at the security entrance to GEICO HQ.  (The underground garage is on the east side of the building, down a small slope from the main doors.)

FROM BALTIMORE: Take I-495's (Beltway) Outer Loop to River Road in Bethesda, take River Road East past 7-11 to Willard Avenue, left onto Willard.  After going around the curve at Willard, look for our 26 acre campus on the right, take a right into Employee / Claims entrance at 4860 Willard, take immediate left into underground garage, go past the lighted entrance for Chevy Chase claims facility, and take a right to the security entrance.  (The underground garage is on the east side of the building, down a small slope from the main doors.)

FROM VIRGINIA: Take I-495's (Beltway) Inner Loop to River Road, head East toward D.C.  Past 7-11 to Willard Avenue, left onto Willard.  After going around the curve at Willard, look for our 26 acre campus on the right, take a right into Employee / Claims entrance at 4860 Willard, take immediate left into underground garage, go past lighted entrance for Chevy Chase claims facility, and take a right to the security entrance. (The underground garage is on the east side of the building, down a small slope from the main doors.)

FROM DOWNTOWN DC: Take Wisconsin Avenue North.  Do not attempt a left turn at Western Avenue.  Just past Western, take a left onto Willard Avenue.  Look ahead on left and you'll see GEICO's campus.  Take a left into 4860 Willard, take immediate left into underground parking facility, go past lighted entrance for the Chevy Chase claims facility, and take a right to the security entrance.  (The underground garage  is on the east side of the building, down a small slope from the main doors.)

PARKING:  Please drive cautiously.  In the associate's underground parking facility, members of the public can park in the evening if they check in at the GEICO HQ entrance's guard desk for special public events in GEICO HQ.  There is no fee for parking.  The guard desk is prominently located just inside GEICO HQ garage entrance.  Please note the restrooms at the entrance just before getting to the security desk.  Those are the only restrooms available for use by CPCUG OS/2 SIG members.

The Chevy Chase GEICO Field Office is also located in this underground facility, but is a separate organization.  Even if GEICO personnel are there, they are not part of the GEICO HQ security staff, so they will not be able to answer your questions about parking or HQ building security.

Provide the guard in the HQ entrance with a photo ID and request the sign-in sheet for CPCUG OS/2 SIG.  Sign in on the line with your name.  The OS/2 SIG's monthly meetings will be in room 1CE.   To get to room 1CE, head directly away from guard desk through turnstiles, past elevators, through double doors, as far as you can walk, then turn right, heading down the long corridor.  Room 1CE will be on your left.
