RELIGIOUS EMBLEMS PROGRAM
GUARDIAN ANGEL
The Guardian Angel Religious Emblem is a Diocesan Award program administered
by the Catholic Committee on Scouting and Campfire, Diocese of Arlington,
for Catholic children who are registered as either Daisy Girl Scouts or
as Tiger Cubs with the Boy Scouts of America. The purpose of the Guardian
Angel Religious Award is to recognize Tiger Cubs and Daisy Girl Scouts
for advancement in religious knowledge and spiritual formation as they
try to develop a spiritual knowledge of how God protects them in every
area of their lives.
LIGHT OF CHRIST
The purpose of the Light of Christ program is to help a boy develop a personal
relationship with Jesus (with the active help and participation of his
family). To be eligible, a boy must be a registered Tiger Cub or Wolf Cub
Scout of the Catholic faith and must complete all the requirements before
he starts Third Grade.
PARVULI DEI
The Parvuli Dei (Children of God) emblem is given in special recognition
by the Church to a Cub or Webelos Scout for advancement in religious knowledge
and spiritual growth. The purpose of this program is to help young boys
explore a wide range of activities in order to discover the presence of
God in their daily lives as members of their family and parish, and also
to develop a good, positive self-image through the contributions they can
make to the faith community.
AD ALTARE DEI
The Ad Altare Dei is a program for boys registered in the Boy Scout program.
Emblem requirements usually take six months to complete. Its purpose is
to help Scouts develop a fully Christian way of life. The program is organized
in steps based on the seven Sacraments. The Sacraments are used as the
basis for spiritual growth and development in the boys. Scouts must be
registered for at least one year before receiving the award.
POPE PIUS X11
The Pope Pius Xll Emblem is designed for Explorers and Boy Scouts of High
School age. The program provides young people a setting where they may
discuss, dialogue and give serious thought, together with a qualified adult,
about the spiritual concerns of their lives and about those matters that
will contribute to their maturity as Catholic adults. The program urges
them to give thought to their vocations in life, their relationship with
God, reponsibilities toward others, contributions they will make to society
and what kind of commitments they should make in the light of their Faith.
FAMILY OF GOD
The Family of God program is an active series written for use by children
in the second and third grades. The program usually takes three to four
months to complete. The program is designed to be used by registered Bluejays,
Bluebirds, and Brownies. The purpose of the Family of God is to help children
explore a wide range of activities to discover the presence of God in their
daily lives as members of their family and parish.
I LIVE MY FAITH
I Live My Faith is a program designed for girls registered in Camp Fire
and Girl Scout programs from ages nine to twelve. This program usually
takes three to six months to complete. Activities focus on developing awareness
within the individual girl of her potential as a growing person, a friend,
a member of her family, a citizen and a participant in the ommunity of
Faith.
THE MARIAN MEDAL
The Marian Medal program is written for girls aged twelve to fifteen in
the Girl Scouts and Camp Fire. The purpose of this program is to enable
them to "proclaim the greatness of the Lord" by actively involving the
girl in an understanding of Mary as the model of openness and spirituality-a
woman of the Church. This program is designed to cover a period of one
year.
SPIRIT ALIVE
The Spirit Alive program for Senior Girl Scouts and Horizon Club members
of Camp Fire is a program which assists youth in discovering how the Holy
Spirit moves in their lives, calling them to greater participation in the
Church's ministry. The program uses the Bible and Vatican II documents
for group or individual research, dialogue with counselors and activities.
